Foundation

Founded in 2007, in just eight years Mater Christi Stud achieved the recognition of BEST LIVESTOCK IN THE WORLD en SICAB 2015. An award that, without a doubt, endorses the surprising progress of a project conceived from the beginning with the idea of establishing a line of racial purity and exceptional morphology, movements and functionality. Thanks to enthusiasm, effort and daily work, we have managed to receive this recognition for 5 years in a row.

initial selection

In 2007 we chose a selection of the best mares from the herd, Spanish Champions of morphology and movements, which were in turn covered with the best stallions of the moment, also Spanish Champions of morphology, movements, functionality and proven aptitude for dressage. . The important thing was not only that these mares and stallions were excellent morphologically and functionally, as they had proven this by becoming Champions of Spain, but they also had to have that excellence established in their genetics. They came from a lineage of Champions of Spain. As their ancestors and collaterals were Champions, they evidenced the genetic fixation on excellence.

embryo transfer

From this exclusive initial selection, the process of embryo Transfer, which allowed us to obtain, already in the first year, five foals from each of the founding mares, daughters in turn from the different stallions chosen. It was possible to see in the first year, the transmissibility of each player, a fact that otherwise would have taken five years to see.

Breeding with the mares of the iron itself

In 2011, embryo transfer was gradually dispensed with and bred directly with the mares daughters of those champions, who keep the attributes of their mothers still improved, using the best stallions of the iron itself, which also improve their champion parents.

Bárbara Mater (Triunfadora XXX and Judío VII), is one of the mares of the first litter, which began to be used as a mother in 2011, being the mother of international champions such as Heiress Mater, by Desdén Mater.

Bulería Mater (Kazana RAM and Utebo II), is another of the mares from the first litter that was also covered for the first time in 2011, giving us the 2015 World Runner-up, sec. 5th, Gloria Mater.

demanding upbringing

In addition to good genetics, breeding loaded with certain demands is necessary, which enhances genetic traits and helps classify litters more quickly.  Healthy and balanced diet for each animal; sanitary control (analysis, vaccinations, evolution of weight and height); exercise program organized by specialists: physiotherapists, veterinary traumatologists, presenters and horsemen; life in controlled freedom up to three years in males and always in females, which additionally ensures their good physical and psychological development; and finally the continuous evaluation in morpho-functional contests, where the specimens are qualified by the judges and classified with respect to those presented by other breeders.

Some outstanding fruits

The genetic fixation achieved makes the horses of Yeguada Mater Christi stand out for their breed, their good poise and an excellent upper line: a racially outstanding head; a long, arched, discharged and well set neck; a prominent withers and broad shoulders, well angled and muscled, which favor the quality of the movements of the forelegs, which are exhibited in series by these beautiful specimens, a broad and deep chest, a straight back with a good loin, necessarily well stitched to a large and powerful croup, which facilitates the good use of the hindquarters. Very sporty animals with a dreamy beauty, set of forms and racial fidelity.

self-criticism

The love of the horse, cannot lead us to think that the specimens that each one breeds are the best, just because they belong to one, because that is the beginning of the decline of a stud farm. The world of horses is very passionate and you come to love the animals you live with a lot and it is very nice to fall in love with them, but knowing how they really are, what virtues they enjoy and what would be wonderful if they enjoyed.

listen and analyze

It is very important to listen and analyze the different opinions on the breeding that is carried out, to study the specimens after reading the contest sheets, to be open to the different ideas and proposals put forward by the professionals of the various tasks that require their handling. from a purebred Spanish horse farm. This is the only way to evolve, because the perfect horse only exists in our own mind, while we have to find the prototype that is closest to it.

Three daughters of the Tri-Champion of Spain: Triunfadora XXX

This cobra causes a great impact as it is a very young cobra, formed by three daughters of Triunfadora XXX, the first Tri-Champion mare of Spain and in them those traits that made the mother a mythical specimen in the history of the PRE stand out. that make them very similar to her and, at the same time, similar to each other. They are three drops of water, which overflow race through all the pores of your skin; excellent as individual horses and, at the same time, very homogeneous when cured, which in the dapple coat is an added merit, being a very representative sample of what has been achieved at Yeguada Mater Christi.

Cobra World Champion 2017, 2018 and 2019

Made up of Hechura Mater, Farándula Mater and Gloria Mater, it is the only cobra in history that has won the World Champion Cobra award three times, also achieving it consecutively at SICAB 2017, 2018 and 2019. With this cobra, Mater Christi demonstrates the extraordinary homogeneity in the morphotype of its specimens, given that, unlike the previous cobra, in this case, the mares that make it up are not sisters, neither on the mother's nor on the father's side, making it clear that some morphological characters have been achieved. common, that unite to their excellence a surprising uniformity; uniformity that allows us to ensure that we are building a new and meritorious lineage in the Purebred Spanish.  In this sense, it should be noted that Mater Christi is also the only stud in history that has managed to win  five times the World Champion Cobra award, also doing it consecutively.

Mater Christi makes history with the 2018 World Champion and Runner-up Cobra

In this, Mater Christi also makes history, since the difficulty of choosing five mares that are similar in their morphological characteristics, height, length, top lines, width in front and behind, conformation of the rumps, insertion of their tails, quality and rhythm of their movements, good and similar  poise, same heads and necks, this difficulty is multiplied when two cobras of five mares are formed and it becomes more meritorious when those two cobras manage to win the first and second prize, respectively, no less than in the World Championship, a fact that occurs also for the first time in history.

The iron of Yeguada Mater Christi

The iron or character of YEGUADA MATER · CHRISTI is a capital M and a capital P intertwined. These are the initials of the names of the founding owners, the marriage formed by Pedro Pingarrón and Macarena Sampedro. At the same time, some design lines are followed that are very reminiscent of paleo-Christian and medieval crismones, in keeping with the name of the stud farm with clear Marian roots, since it is dedicated to the Mother of Christ as intercessor for Humanity. In this way a second interpretation is offered; then appear: the Greek letter X (ji) by crossing the two inclined lines of the M (disregarding its vertical strokes) and the Greek letter P (ro); that is to say ji + ro = Christ; the M in this reading would be an abbreviation of Mater (Mother in Latin), so we can read Mater Christi; that is, allusion to the name of the stud.
